The Sherwood Forest Faire

In March, we attended the Sherwood Forest Faire for a dazzling array of costumes, food, and events. Enough to please any Tolkien fan.

Some folks were dressed to the nines.

Amazing artists played music

The Sky Kings (Falconers) attended while in costume with fantastic Birds of Prey.

There was a Joust of course.

Fighting in armor is hot work.

Note on the Sky Kings. This was a live show and as sometimes happens in live shows, things don’t always follow the script. They had a pair of Harris Hawks which are unusual among predatory birds in that they hunt cooperatively. Their hawks hadn’t figured out who was boss yet. So during the show, they got into a fight. Neither bird was injured and the show went on. My wife got some spectacular shots of their combat. You can find those pics here (The page loads slow sometimes so please be patient):

About EagleAye

I like looking at the serious subjects in the news and seeking the lighter side of the issue. I love satire and spoofs. I see the ridiculous side of things all the time, and my goal is to share that light-hearted view.
