Written for Trifextra. A Limerick about a favorite trio.
Sunshine of Cream
Eric Clapton was a genius, held in high esteem
With Baker and Bruce, formed a band named Cream
Their music was magic
Their parting was tragic
Yet ‘Sunshine of your Love’ still plays, like some happy dream

Emerson, Lake and Palmer apparently would have been joined by Jimi Hendrix, except he died. If they had, would they have been known as HELP? I have to wonder about that one, maybe.

Haha! They would have had an interesting sound to be sure. Hendrix had the Band of Gypsies. Teamed with ELP, would they have been, Band of Techies?

LOL! Absolutely… 🙂 They really pushed the tech edge back then – along with Wakeman. And Abba…weirdly – I gather Benny Anderson used a lot of the same gear.

Oh, Yes. One of my faves with Wakeman. I loved Yes and ELP for their virtuoso performances. One time, Jimi Hendrix was asked what guitarists he liked. He said Terry Kath with Chicago and Billy Gibbons with ZZ Top. I can easily see how he liked them. If you can find it, try listening to FreeForm Guitar by Chicago, performed with no effects whatsoever. Amazing!
