Another Chance

“It’s a chalk portrait I did of her,” said Philippe, setting down his sangria. “I keep it to remember.”

“You were in love,” said Jovanna.

“Yes. We planned to marry when I returned.” He swallowed. “She was always careless when crossing the street.”

“I’m sorry. She was pretty.”

“She was perfect,” said Philippe, remembering how she would twist her fingertip in his dimple. He would always giggle when she did this. He never told anyone about it.

“Do you believe in reincarnation?”

“I’m not sure. Why?”

Jovanna reached out gently and twisted her fingertip in his dimple. “You should start believing.”

About EagleAye

I like looking at the serious subjects in the news and seeking the lighter side of the issue. I love satire and spoofs. I see the ridiculous side of things all the time, and my goal is to share that light-hearted view.

What a lovely valentine, darling. Your typical twisted sense of storytelling, but with a sweetness I don’t think I’ve seen before. Very nice.
