Written for the Friday Fictioneers. A story about an unusual plan to escape the police begins after the photo.
Genre: Crime/Humor
The Getaway
“Are you certain this will work?” said Callie.
“Of course!” said Rupert. “It’s perfect for making a getaway with the diamonds. No car chases, no airport security.”
“But these hay bales stink!”
“We’ll just wait inside the bales until they’re delivered to some farm, far from security, and most importantly, no where near any cops.” said Rupert. “This can’t fail.”
After waiting an hour the jostling hay bale cart finally stopped. They heard the driver speak with someone.
“Busy day in the stables?”
“You see?” whispered Rupert.
“Always is with hundreds of cops collecting their horses for their daily patrol.”

LOL oh dear, are they ever in for a shock. I’m not sure if I feel sorry for them or not – depends on who they nicked the diamonds from. Nice twist as always, Eric ๐

That does make a difference, doesn’t it. In any event, Rupert’s escape plane wasn’t nearly as foolproof as he believed. Glad you enjoyed the twist. Thanks for reading, Lyn!

Haha well that’s not going to work out for them too well!

No it won’t. Instead of staying away from police, they’ve delivered themselves straight into their hands! Yikes. Thanks so much for stopping in and reading. ๐

Surprise, Surprise. I guess it won’t be a perfect crime today. Great story.

Nope. Getting past all those cops will be very tough, and they can run really fast on horseback. Thanks for your thoughts! They’re much appreciated. ๐

If they play it right, there’s the chance they could get away with it. The cops don’t know they have the diamonds (as far as I can tell) and if they aren’t seen getting out of the hay they might be able to pass as stable hands. Or there is the option of waiting long into the night until few, if any people are still around. There is still hope yet… until there isn’t.

True enough. If they play their cards right they might still make it out of there. At the moment though, I think their guts just turned to water. Thanks for stopping in, Adam! ๐
