Sacrific For Progress

Oil magnate Benton Sands made marine biologist Fran sick. Unfortunately, she worked for him. As they observed the spill she said, “It’s almost cleaned up.”

“Good,” said Sands. “This is costing me money.”

“It’s costing the environment more,” she noted.

Smiley snorted. “It’s the sacrifice we make for progress.”

“We?”

She answered her phone. Tom was asking where he should dump the oil collected from the spill. She turned to Sands. “Should I deliver my final report to your home?”

“Certainly.”

“What’s the address?”

She repeated Sands’ address to Tom and hung up. She told Sands, “You’re right. Sacrifices are necessary.”

About EagleAye

I like looking at the serious subjects in the news and seeking the lighter side of the issue. I love satire and spoofs. I see the ridiculous side of things all the time, and my goal is to share that light-hearted view.

Haha! Me too. Or maybe to his face when Sands realizes the sacrifice “we” must make that he so blithely mentioned suddenly means “him” too. That would be a true Kodak moment. Thanks for the visit Lyn!

  5. Very cute. She may be out of a job but Sands will be more polluted than the sand in the Gulf ever was!

Exactly. She didn’t go out in a blaze of glory, she went in an ooze of black gold. Now Sands’ trophy wife knows what a seagull feels like! Thanks much, Perry! 🙂

  7. Dear Eric,

Oil delivery to his swimming pool would be a good place. 😉 Yep, that’s progress. Good one.

  8. Oooooo, so good, Eric. Turnabout is fair play and the royal “we” is not “in” these days.

So true! I never was a fan of that “royal we” thing at all. I thought it was about time folks understand the meaning of “we” they way the rest of us know it. Thanks for the visit, Janet!

  11. Eric, Hopefully Benton won’t be at home when the surprise arrives. I bet that makes the news, possibly CNN and/or YouTube. That should go viral. XD Well done.
