Sacrific For Progress
Oil magnate Benton Sands made marine biologist Fran sick. Unfortunately, she worked for him. As they observed the spill she said, “It’s almost cleaned up.”
“Good,” said Sands. “This is costing me money.”
“It’s costing the environment more,” she noted.
Smiley snorted. “It’s the sacrifice we make for progress.”
She answered her phone. Tom was asking where he should dump the oil collected from the spill. She turned to Sands. “Should I deliver my final report to your home?”
“What’s the address?”
She repeated Sands’ address to Tom and hung up. She told Sands, “You’re right. Sacrifices are necessary.”
Each week, the Friday Fictioneers meet to write 100 words of flash fiction from an image prompt. This week’s prompt may be found here: http://rochellewisofffields.wordpress.com/2014/05/07/9-may-2014/
