This week, in the photo challenge, the topic is: Contrast. Personally, I love contrast. I like vivid images wherever I can get them. On the other hand, there’s lots of ways to be contrasting: Big vs Small, Technological vs Natural, and so on. I think I’ve covered many of the possibilities. Here are my offerings for the challenge.

Some great shots there, Eric 🙂 I particularly like the first one. For some reason, the raindrops on the branches appeals to me. You can even see the rain in the background. You must have an excellent camera.

Thank you! Yeah, the Cardinal was fun. I couldn’t believe she posed for me like that. She was actually taking a break from attacking her reflection in the mirror at the time. So funny.

Some excellent photos! The parrots are intriguing; here in NZ we have several species, all of them very dull in colour but sparkling in their behviour. One type, the Kea, is renowned for vandalising cars left on mountain-side carparks – seriously; they tear at anything loose (and not so loose) including aerials. Allegedly they once trashed the rubber seal around a windscreen so thoroughly that the glass fell in.

Thank you, Matthew! We found those parrots in a zoo. I’m not sure where they’re from, but they’re not native here. I think I saw a piece with D. Attenborough talking about the Kea. Didn’t it almost go extinct but then managed to survive in the mountains?
That’s a great story about the glass falling in. What determined birds!

I like the bird on the mirror best because I find it amusing how the tree branch is reflected so the bird is (sort of) perched in a tree.
