Wine Tasting – Friday Fictioneers

Written for the Friday Fictioneers. A story, about some very unusual wine and it’s effects, begins after the photo.

Genre: Speculative Fiction/Humor

Wine Tasting

“Oh that’s good!” exclaimed Jamieson, sipping again. He squinted. “You allow sunlight in your wine cellar?”

Petra grinned at the apparently glowing wine bottles. “There’s no window. Our yeast has bio-luminescent qualities. That light glows from within the wine.”

Jamieson saw dollar signs. “Incredible! Any side effects?”

“None whatsoever!” Petra opened a door into another, very dark, room.

Jamieson entered slowly. “Hard to see in here.”

“What?” queried Petra, entering the room. “It’s quite bright.”

“Better,” said Jamieson when it brightened. Then he realized where the light came from.

Twin beams of light streamed from Petra’s eyes.

“Ah, Petra. About those side effects…”

Each week, Rochelle Wisoff-Fields wines and dines us with a photo and our own imagination. Getting snockered (not really) on fine wine, we write up to 100 words of flash fiction based upon the photo. Hopefully, after all that wine, the stories make sense. Look here for more stories based upon the photo above: http://rochellewisofffields.wordpress.com/2014/09/24/26-september-2014/

About EagleAye

I like looking at the serious subjects in the news and seeking the lighter side of the issue. I love satire and spoofs. I see the ridiculous side of things all the time, and my goal is to share that light-hearted view.

Hey, maybe that accounts for all those sightings of UFOs at night. A bunch of people having a supper by starlight on a hill and enjoying a glass of Petra’s wine. Boy, but wouldn’t it be handy if you wanted to write at night and didn’t want to disturb your partner by switching on the light 😉
Give him a wine rack with a light shining through it and he gives you the beginning of a novel 😀

Haha! I love all the ideas people are having. My wife, in her 30s, still reads with a light under the covers occasionally. So cute! With such wine, she’d have a free hand to hold the book while reading. You see, I do have inspirations to take me to these strange fantastical places. 😉 Thanks bunches, Lyn!

Drink that wine and you never have to buy flashlights. Could save on the electric bill as well. A toast to your clever story. L’chaim.

To your health! I’ve got a few bottles coming my way. I’ll just leave the house dark and not worry about lights. I might go out clubbing and see what happens. 😉 Thanks so much, Rochelle. I appreciate it. 🙂

Just think of the advantages of being able to blink in semaphore…or reading a book in bed at night.

Ha! Could be popular on ships where they use semaphore. With each case of wine they could include a little booklet with instructions for morse code. 😉 Love it. Thanks for the visit! 🙂
