Coastal Defense

The team headed toward the island not sure what they would find when they arrived. Fareeq scanned the beach with his binoculars from the boat. “Nothing,” he said. “Just birds and some feral cats.”

“As expected from naive Americans,” rumbled Bilal. The most zealous of the ISIS attack team.

Fareeq grinned. Their ‘dirty bombs’ would soon cripple America’s Manhattan Island.

Pulling his boat ashore Fikri said, “I don’t like the way that cat is staring at me.”

“It’s a stupid cat,” grated Fareeq. “Focus on being Allah’s right hand.”

The members scattered on the beach as planned. First Aswad stopped responding to radio, then Hasim and Dhakir. Fareeq was the last one to die, seeing only a grey blur before his throat tore away.

“That’s the 6th failed attack this month,” said President Warden. “Your BFCs are performing well.”

“Thank you, sir,” said Science Advisor Filippi.

“Seriously, I thought Bionic Feral Cats would never work for Coastal Defense, but you proved me wrong.”

Author’s Notes:

Dirty Bomb: A potential terrorist attack might come from a standard explosive saturated with radioactive waste, which is easier to steal than a nuclear weapon. Exploded within a large metropolitan area, millions of people might become irradiated. Intelligence services are constantly on the lookout for such attacks.

Some of the Arabic names were chosen very carefully:
Fareeq means: lieutenant general
Bilal mean: the first convert
Fikri means: has thoughts

This is my first effort for a new writing challenge: “Mondays Finish The Story.” The opening line is: “The team headed toward the island not sure what they would find when they arrived.” The challenge is to finish the story in 100 – 150 words. I hope you enjoyed. Look for more stories here: http://mondaysfinishthestory.wordpress.com/2014/10/06/mondays-finish-the-story-october-6th-2014/

About EagleAye

I like looking at the serious subjects in the news and seeking the lighter side of the issue. I love satire and spoofs. I see the ridiculous side of things all the time, and my goal is to share that light-hearted view.

Goody, this means you’ll be writing more stories for us to read šŸ˜€ I love the idea of bionic feral cats. We have tens of thousands of them here in Oz. Unfortunately, all of them are the normal type, not the bionic type.

well…no, not really 100% sure. But if they are bionic, then the boffins have done really bad job (I was going to say a piss poor job, but I’m a lady, so I won’t) of programming them because the blasted things keep procreating.

You never know. Your shores may be safer from ISIS than you realize. There’s bazillions of feral cats here too. They’ve become something of a plague actually. Can’t be helped, I suppose. People love cats. Bionic one’s at least won’t be begging for milk. But they might just ask for pieces of religious zealot instead. šŸ˜‰
