Bus Driver

“He certainly had quite an attitude!” said Principal Hartwell. She adjusted her poofy, platinum blond hair. “So we had concerns.”

“Like what?” asked news reporter Jamie Underwood. They stood outside the yellow police ribbon surrounding the blue bus.”

“We weren’t sure about an A-rab driving our children’s bus. He’s Christian so we decided to give him a second chance.”

“Morris Aqib is Lebanese, correct?”

“Leba-who? Anyway he talked to the kids about evolution,” she whispered. “Inappropriate for school kids.”

Underwood winced.

“And he painted that face on the bus. Very disturbing!”

“What did you think when the bus accelerated suddenly?”

“We thought the worst! He was once Muslim, you know.”

Underwood winced again. “In fact, he was saving the kids, correct?”

“Yes, Ma’am. Lord! We never realized Mr. Jones, the school counselor, had traveled to Pakistan twice.”

“Has the bomb been removed?”

“Yes, but the police are still trying retrieve Mr. Jones’ head from the bus’ radiator.”
Each monday, it’s time to finish the story. With a photo, and an opening line (“He certainly had quite an attitude!”), we can write up to 150 words of flash fiction. About EagleAye

I like looking at the serious subjects in the news and seeking the lighter side of the issue. I love satire and spoofs. I see the ridiculous side of things all the time, and my goal is to share that light-hearted view.

Quite appropriate for these days, Eric. The bad buy isn’t always who you think it is. You took this in a direction I wasn’t expecting this week. I thought it would be humour from you for sure 🙂

I tried to go funny with this one, but the story went in a slightly different direction. There’s a lot of threats out there for us these days, and the thing to remember is that sometimes the enemy…is us. We need to stay on our toes and stay thinking, not just reacting. Thanks so much for your thoughts, Lyn! 🙂
