No Surprises
Donning her fins and snorkel, she headed out into the deep water. It wasn’t long before a triangular fin cut the water around her.
Danni dove suddenly.
Moments later she burst from the water with a shriek. She finished the primal sound…with laughter. A man with green and blue mottled skin emerged beside her, laughing too. He cradled her in his arms and she wrapped her legs around him in a familiar, comfortable pose for the pair. “I’ve missed you Mahnahee,” she said, kissing him.
“And I you,” he replied
“I have a surprise for you,” she said, hooking a foot over his fin.
“You’re pregnant,” he grinned.
“Oh! Well lucky guess,” grimaced Danni. “But then, it’s…”
“…it’s a boy!”
Danni mock scowled. “No surprises, I guess. How did you know all this?”
Mahnahee pointed at the sonar bulge at the crown of his head.
“Ah, right,” said Danni, realizing at last. “I think I’ll cancel those expensive sonograms.”
