Sheik Mahmoud gestured, and tall, muscular Aziz followed Chamberlain Dawud away.
“Trouble?” said Ghassan.
“My wives are angry about Fatima,” Mahmoud scoffed. “Aziz will ‘correct’ their misbehavior.”
“Fatima was truculent.” He waved dismissively. “She’ll eat solid food again soon.”
High-pitched screams erupted from the harem.
Mahmoud grinned. “See?”
Dawud returned, trembling. “Highness! Your harem is outside. They’ve brought Aziz, your new eunuch with them.”
I expect most folks know what a eunuch is, but just in case, Eunuch: “a man who has been castrated, especially (in the past) one employed to guard the women’s living areas at an oriental court.” http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eunuch
This week at the Grammar Ghoul Press, the prompt for the Chimera 66 #8 writing challenge is: Harem. I didn’t plan the splash picture for the story, but when I saw it, I realized it was perfect.
