The Pen
Once upon a time in a land far, far away, the river ran red with Orcish blood. With a mighty blow from her sword, Gilda cut the last Orc in twain. Nodding in thanks to her fellow warriors, the Warrior Princess shed her blood-soaked armor. She snatched up the small, spindly scribe standing on the river bank. As the powerful woman dragged him by the scruff into some nearby bushes, the diminutive chronicler gave a wink to the watching warriors.
“What is she thinking?” said Bolgard. Sweat dripped down the rippling muscles of his powerful body.
“She always likes sex after a battle,” explained Egarl, removing armor from his 6’6″ frame. He studiously ignored the grunting sounds from the bushes.
“I know that!” scowled Bolgard. “Here I am, strong and brave, with this great thrusting sword.” He thrust his hips forward meaningfully. “And always she picks that weakling scribe!”
Egarl shrugged. “Methinks his pen is mightier than your sword!”

Each Monday, the Mondays Finish the Story writing challenge commences. This week, we the story must begin with, “Once upon a time in a land far, far away.” A photo from Barbara Beacham (see above) is the media prompt. This is my answer to the challenge. Look here for more answers at the blue link: https://mondaysfinishthestory.wordpress.com/2015/04/06/mondays-finish-the-story-april-6th-2015/
LOL. And thus history was written!

I just laughed out loud. Thanks — today I really needed to read The Pen sort of story. I always did think the pen was mightier, and now I have proof!

Hehe. That’s really cool. A good laugh is what I was hoping for. Now we know the “real” reason the pen is mightier. Writers are just built that way. 😉 Thanks so much! 🙂

I loved your story oh WordMaster! The last line had me laughing yet again…Those zingers always put a smile on my face! Thanks for writing for the MFtS challenge! Be well, and see you next week… ^..^

It’s good to know they’re having the desired effect. Laughs are not only good for the heart and soul, they’re good for the digestion *scientific fact* Thanks Barb! I’ll see you next week. 🙂

I must laugh at myself first before I can laugh at the world…Clearly I do a lot of this otherwise I would not see humor at all! Can you imagine all those in the world that cannot laugh at themselves?
I enjoy what you write and I am honored that you have stayed with this challenge and I have to thank you again for doing so! You are one of the many who have made this dream come true for me. One night, not that long ago, I had a dream. The dream told me to start a flash fiction blog that gives the opening line to the story. Oh, that kind of sounds like that Kevin Costner movie doesn’t it? “Build it and they will come!” Hee hee…
Thanks again WordMaster!

I think those that can laugh at themselves are probably the most sane of all of us. There’s so much crazy stuff going on in the world. If you can’t laugh at it, laugh in it’s face, you’ll probably go mad. I’m glad I’ve become part of your dream. One that has come alive. You’ve got a brilliant idea here and I’m happy to know it’s working out so well. This really is a “Blog of Dreams.” 🙂

Because history is written not by victors, but by their scribes. 🙂

Very funny! Yes, the Pen can be quite powerful. Perhaps Bolgard should become a weakling scribe! His life might change.

Hehe. Bolgard might give that a try, but he’ll likely become frustrated. He just doesn’t know how to use the pen properly. 😉 Glad you had fun. Thank you much! 🙂

WordMaster indeed! As always, when you give us a laugh, you give us a real rib tickler. Now we know the truth of where that saying came from. Well done, Eric 😀

Hehe. Yep. It came from a scribe with a quite impressive pen. 😉 I do enjoy it when folks get a laugh. Then we can all laugh together. Thanks kindly, Lyn! 🙂

Great story! Bolgard’s pen must be very mighty. 🙂

Thank you! But it’s the scribe’s pen that’s mighty. Bolgard’s sword is, apparently, insufficient. 😉

Always fun to visit your ‘Penned words’ –
Me thinks though that scribe might have a few good stories to put upon parchment.
This week my entry was not part of my series…but dealing with ‘fam-damily’

Hehe. Thanks Jules! The scribe has some great stories indeed, but I think porn wasn’t very common at the time. 😉

Did you ever notice that the book-ish characters always win? I mean, it’s the Fantasy equivalent of a superpower.

Well yeah. Who’s writing about the bookish characters? Bookish writers! One reason writing is fun is because you can live out fantasies. 😉 Thanks very much, Dave! 🙂
