Cee’s Fun Foto: Three Things

This week at Cee’s Fun Foto Challenge we’re looking for three things, or the number three. Since Shey and I are often birdwatching, guess what the subject of my pics are. Here’s my pics for this week’s challenge…

Barn Swallows

Black Skimmers. I zoomed in on these to highlight how incredibly thin their beaks are.

Redwinged Blackbirds (F) These birds had a fooled for a time. We hoped they were Seaside Sparrows. They would be new birds for us. Identifying birds is often tricky, especially when you’re hoping for a new one.

      Hehe. They really threw us for a loop. We were sure they were a new species of Sparrow for us. Another detail is females often flock together separate from the males, so they look like a separate species, because they’re nothing like the males. We checked with one of the best birders in Central Texas and she confirmed these were RWBs, fooling us. We love the skimmers too. That’s the closest we ever got. You should see them feeding. It’s amazing!
