Customer Satisfaction – Gargleblaster Microstories #221

The waitress delivered the enchilada plate.

The food critic glared. “This is hot?”

Very hot,” she grinned.

“I mean really spicy hot!”

“Try it!”

The food critic took two bites, burped, and set the tablecloth on fire.

He nodded approvingly. “That’ll do.”

Hehe. Thank you! My keyboard is a little soft around the edges, and my glass is now melted into the table. *sigh* Such are the sacrifices one must make for writing! 😉

Ha Ha! Very funny! Just think, if the food critic was on a date, as well as judging food…she could honestly say she was on a “hot” date with the guy!

Oh yes. My wife and I love Indian. There’s an Indian restaurant just a stone’s throw away from us. We eat there all the time. My nose runs whenever I eat anything hot, but I consider it a small sacrifice for eating such wonderful food. I love the Saag Paneer and Shey loves the Goat Biriyani. We never need argue about where to eat. It would be fun indeed to be a food critic. 😉

Hah! I can imagine it was satisfying for the chef to really give it to the critic.

Oh yes! “You want it hot? Okaaaay…here you go!” What’s funny is the chef had to wear a biohazard suit just to assemble the dish safely and then the critic is…happy? That’s a serious hot food lover.

Cute stuff. Have you ever read Thomas Fox Averill’s Secrets of the Tsil Cafe? There is a philandering food critic in that book that I could see doing exactly this, if the book were magical realism.

I’ll definitely have to look that up. I’m always looking for new stuff to read. Thanks much!

I had the opportunity of reading it the year it came out and of meeting Mr. Averil also. It’s set in my hometown of Kansas City, but the story is a universal one of coming-of-age. The recipes inside are sure to set something on fire.
