Raising a child is time consuming. Since Hannah was born, Shey and I have focused entirely on her and not so much on our hobbies. Well, Hannah is getting older (2mos+) and it’s time she understands what her parents are all about. That means it’s time to get back to a little birding at a favorite spot in Hornsby Bend. Okay, birding from the car next to Hannah, but it’s still birding. We had a pretty good day of it too.
Great-Tailed Grackle. Note the iridescent feathers.
Monk Parakeet. Yes, these are wild. A rare and lucky treat for us.
Loads of Red-Winged Blackbirds were out, but often hiding in the tall grass.
Spotted Sandpiper.
We love birding, but we love all of nature. Couldn’t resist these turtles in the waves.
I’ve been birding since I was a kid, but my earliest birding was a much different kind of bird. This is an F-5F or a T-38 Talon. An awesome military training aircraft.
Beautiful bird shots.

I love birds pictures. We are deprived of them. Just crows and magpies here. Hannah is just two months old, isn’t it asking too much from her.

It all depends on where you live. Right by our apartment, the types of birds are fewer. To find the variety, you have to travel a little. This was a 10 minute drive from home. And Hannah did just fine with us. She slept most of the time. π
