After leaving Earth, Xerp looked everywhere for them. His moth-like antennae quivering with frustration, he called to his wife, Glyp. “Honey! Have you seen my paints? I can’t find them.”
“You mean the ones that create reality from what you paint?” said Glyp, fluttering her wings in anxiety. “Sweetie, I hope you didn’t leave them on the planet! They could be dangerous.”
Back on Earth, Imogen loved the paints she found in her garden. She finished a painting of her roses with a flourish. The success of the new paints got her thinking and she turned away from the canvas, deep in thought. She never saw the rose bud emerge from the painting and blossom…outside the canvas.
Excited, Imogen stalked away from the canvas without a look back. She’d been commissioned to paint a movie poster, and it was still unfinished. The unusual depth of the new paints would look amazing on her piece, “The Beast That Ate San Diego!”

Uh-oh, I think Imogen might find herself more, mm, involved in that movie than she expects!
All because that silly Xerp was forgetful again. Poor Glyp, what IS she going to do with him?

Haha! Yes, Glyp spends a lot of time picking up after him, as though he were a child. San Diego won’t be the first city she’s had to restore. Thanks much, Joy! 🙂

That’s fun! Guess she’ll get in big trouble. I’m just glad I’m not in San Diego ;o)

Bye Bye San Diego! Haha! Imogen has no idea how dangerous she is with those paints. Xerp may have finally learned not to be so forgetful. Hopefully, Imogen will be able to paint San Diego back together. Great story Eric and very creative! Thanks for participating in FFfAW challenge!

Yep. But you make a good point. With the same paints she could restore the city. Perhaps she could do another painting entitled, “World Peace.” This might be a great chance for the world! Thanks so much! 🙂

Great story. And yes! I want that paintbox. I can’t paint, but my brother-in-law is the RNZN’s official artist…

Yeah, you mentioned him before. He does terrific nautical art. He could restore some great old ships! Thanks much, Matthew. 🙂

Haha! Wasn’t that Killer Tomato movie, which spawned the Rotten Tomato movie rating site, filmed in San Diego? All the more reason. Just sayin’.

Hehe. I think it was. That movie has cult fascination. And now we have a modern version of it with “Sharknado.” Wasn’t it San Diego where Jurassic Park III finished? If this continues, San Diego could be the new Tokyo!

Well! That’s not going to end well.

No it isn’t. A rough day for San Diego. 😉

I gotta bad feeling about this. That was incredibly careless of Xerp (what a twerp).

That was. One wonders how many planets he’s done that on. Seems his wife will have to get everything sorted out. 😉

Very imaginative take on the prompt. As usual.

Oh dear – I think San Diego may soon become rubble! Let’s hope that Xerp manages to reclaim his paints before she gets started on the poster. A great story, Eric. 🙂

Yeah, no doubt. I think his wife, Glyp, may yet save the day. This isn’t the first time he’s lost his paints. 😉 Thanks so much! 🙂

Wow! She doesn’t know her own capabilities when using the paints. San Diego will be in the spot light, but not for long! Fame is often times short-lived. 😦 Great story and take on the prompt.

Yeah, with those special paints she can do amazing things. Maybe rebuild a newer, better San Diego after the Beast finishes eating it. 😉
Thanks so much, I appreciate it. 🙂

Oh boy! Now that is one twist I was not expecting. And I have a feeling Impgen would have used those paints for good if only she knew the power they posessed. Wonderful story.

You’re absolutely right. She would’ve used them for good. In fact, after San Diego is smashed to bits and run through a monster’s digestive tract, she’ll use the same paints to rebuild the city. And that’s just the start. 😉 Thanks so much! 🙂
