Working for a Living

“Now this is living the life of Riley,” said Alexander. The Ragdoll cat rolled languorously upon a soft blue cushion.

The family Siamese cat, Imhotep, batted at thin air. “I suppose it’s okay.”

“What do you mean? It’s great!” exclaimed Alexander. “You don’t have to hunt for food. It’s provided for you, often on demand. Occasionally there’s some scrumptious milk. There’s no dogs chasing you around. It’s just relax, relax, relax.”

“Says you,” said Imhotep. He charged the sofa and attacked with claws outstretched.

“Whaddya mean?” Alexander rolled up. “It’s the same for you.”

Imhotep ran up the wall, leaped off it, and buried his claws into something invisible. “Not hardly. I earn my keep.”

“Yeah, right! Like what?”

Imhotep licked his paws clean. “If wasn’t for me clawing up the ghosts every day and exhausting them, they might haunt our owners all night!”

  7. Looks like Imohotep has the ghosts under control, or at least he says he does. Whose going to doubt him. They can’t prove he’s wroting. Good story, Eric. Well written. πŸ˜€ — Suzanne

True enough. They’ll just have to trust Imhotep for the time being. Seems so trouble to take him at his word. If he’s serious about the ghosts, who wants to test that? πŸ˜‰ Thanks Suzanne. I’m glad you enjoyed this one. πŸ™‚
