Not knowing what to expect, he made his way into the dark of the forest. He wondered if the stories were true. They said the forest was populated Ghouls and Witches and Beasts with no name. It was so full of of ghosts, ghost-hunters refused to enter.
He walked for a mere five minutes before a huge creature rose up. The Orc’s tusk-like teeth protruded past black lips. Warts covered its hide and human skulls dangled from the monster’s belt. It raised a club the size of a lamp pole.
“I don’t think so,” he warned.
“Why not?” rumbled the Orc.
“Because I am Siguran the Deadly Sorcerer!”
A witch wheezed. “The Siguran who destroys mountains?”
A treeant raised its limbs. “The Siguran who commands the skies?”
“The very same!” Siguran glared at the forest’s evil denizens. “I understand you beasts have been attacking joggers, eating local cattle, and terrifying the countryside just to celebrate Halloween.”
They all drooped under his fierce gaze. The orc stared at the ground. “It’s what we do.”
Siguran snarled, “Well that’s enough of that! You guys simply aren’t trying hard enough. If you really want to scare people, here’s what we’re gonna do…”

That’s the problem these days, you can’t find a decent bunch of evil denizens in the forest anymore. Siguran the Deadly Sorcerer will soon sort them out; I mean, he’s smart, just look at his disguise! Now all he needs to do is hope his wife, Lady Camilla, doesn’t find out 😀

Yeah, the ranks of Evil have been seriously depleted with all those do-gooders running around. All that’s left are third stringers and bench warmers. His disguise is great, right? Looks like a regular guy. His illusions are really quite good. Hopefully, Lady Camilla doesn’t learn he’s having fun without her. She might turn him into a toad…again. 😉 Thanks kindly, Lyn! 🙂

What a funny image of the orc drooping and mumbling “That’s what we do.” Poor bad guys…

Hehe. Imagine a 7-foot Orc with a deadly club looking sheepish. I think it’s a fun contradiction. Maybe with good leadership they’ll get their A-game back.

And that, kids, was how the Republican party was formed…. 🙂

Couldn’t be. The Republicans haven’t got leadership that competent. 😉

He’s not dressed for evil OR the forest. At most, he’s prepared to do battle with a line at Starbucks and a bench in a city park. Then, Netflix.

Hehe. That’s just a powerful illusion. Modern sorcerers don’t go around looking like…well…sorcerers. You didn’t think your pizza delivery man was actually a…pizza delivery man, did you? 😉

Very strong and powerful way of writing dialogues. Love the way, they all drooped under his fierce gaze 🙂

Love how the Siguran is more powerful and frightening than the ghouls, witches, and beasts of the forest. The description of the orc is hideous. He sounds pretty freaky! Love how the Siguran was going to teach them how to really be frightening, although they sounded pretty scary to me as they are! Great story Eric!

Glad you enjoyed the Orc. I wanted him to be pretty intimidating, until Siguran introduced himself. Glad you enjoyed this. More Halloween themed stuff is coming! 🙂

Looks like he’ll whip those evil beings into shape in no time. People are more sophisticated these days. Just any old scary stuff won’t do. Funny and well done, Eric. 😀 — Suzanne

Absolutely right. More thrills and chills are what the people need. He’ll set the monsters up with the “modern standard” of Evil. 😉 Thanks so much, Suzanne. 🙂
