Mixed Feelings

Leonard and Suzanne looked down at the half-submerged machine at the edge of the lake. Suzanne said, “Isn’t it amazing?”

Leonard scowled. “It’s in seriously muddy water. The engine is ruined.”

“Oh come now. Perry worked hard on it. You should be proud.”

Leonard sighed, “I am. It’s just that it sank.”

Suzanne scoffed, “Oh please! How many eight-year olds do know have built their own submarine?”

“Not many,” acknowledged Leonard.

“See? You should be jumping for joy.”

“I would, but…”

“But what?”

“Next time, when he tries an experiment, I wish he wouldn’t use the engine from my Ferrari!”

About EagleAye

I like looking at the serious subjects in the news and seeking the lighter side of the issue. I love satire and spoofs. I see the ridiculous side of things all the time, and my goal is to share that light-hearted view.

I guess it’s a good thing that next time Ferrari won’t have an engine. ๐Ÿ™‚

You wouldn’t want a ferrari engine for a submarine. Now a landrover, that would be a good engine to use. Good one!

I’m gonna get all technical too.
Diesel should power your engine, or possibly nuclear reactors. I would be leery of letting my eight year old muck about with nuclear power though. Better stick with the diesel.
    I loved this!

Well yeah, diesel has been powering subs for a long time. Perry’s just 8-years old you know. He’s still learning things, like including snorkel. Maybe he’ll swipe the diesel engine frrom the Audi next time. ๐Ÿ˜‰ Glad you enjoyed it. Thanks much! ๐Ÿ™‚

  8. Dear Eric,

What I want to know is how an eight-year-old lifted a Ferrari engine. There’s a candidate for Mensa I think. ๐Ÿ˜‰ Clever story. Poor Leonard.

There’s gear out there that can do the job, and you don’t need muscles to use it. Just money and brains. Apparently, Perry has both in excess. You never know. Mensa might be too boring for him. ๐Ÿ˜‰ Thanks kindly, Rochelle! ๐Ÿ™‚

  9. Lyn says:

I know where Perry can get some cheap engines next time…Volkswagen might have a few thousand cars that no one wants soon. Probably perfect for underwater where they can’t pollute the atmosphere ๐Ÿ™‚
I think Perry must be related to you; his brilliance simply came out in science ๐Ÿ˜‰

    • EagleAye says:

Haha! In defene of his other cars, I think Leonard will show Perry where the junk yard is, complete with perfectly serviceable engines. Perry is far more brilliant than me. This kid will end up building spaceships out of Volkswagons someday. ๐Ÿ˜‰ Thanks so much, Lyn! ๐Ÿ™‚

  14. Hell, if dad can afford a Ferrari to begin with, he can afford another one in support of his son’s inventiveness.
Who knows, this may be the start of a billion dollar start up.

    • EagleAye says:

Yeah, it probably is. If Perry starts up his own company as a defense contractor, then Dad will be able to own “fleets” of Ferraris! ๐Ÿ˜‰ Thanks much, Randy! ๐Ÿ™‚

  15. Susan says:

Cute story. It had me laughing during the great dialogue. Poor Leonard. ๐Ÿ™‚

  17. Unfortunately for Leonard, any child that smart is going to find a way into the garage even if it’s locked. Well-written and funny story, Eric. ๐Ÿ˜€ — Suzanne

You are so right! I think Leonard needs to take an active part in Perry’s inventing. If anything just to be sure his cars are safe. ๐Ÿ˜‰ Glad you had fun. Thanks Suzanne! ๐Ÿ™‚
