Naval patrol planes approached the scene, their aircrews on high alert. Warships of many nations approached the area concerned that some new weapon of mass destruction had been unleashed. Scientific teams from five countries hastily assembled and set out to investigate what caused the catastrophe.
CNN anchor, Janice Holbrook reported the astounding news, “A massive seismic event rocked the Pacific island of Paku-Paku this morning. Scientists report that the top one hundred meters of the island were obliterated during an unprecedented explosion.”
Behind her, footage from a Navy plane showed a huge cloud billowing three miles into the sky.
“The news has flummoxed scientists who say the destruction wasn’t caused by volcanic eruption. ‘The island isn’t volcanic,’ says Peter Sabong from Manila University. ‘Nothing natural could have caused this.’ This was no nuclear test say experts, but what could have caused the event has them scratching their heads.”
Meanwhile two sea monsters, each a thousand feet long, swam away from Paku-Paku as fast as they could. Klaptukas was unusually despondent. His mate, Llaturakka, sighed, “I really liked that island, you know.”
“Me too,” said Klaptukas, holding his sore stomach.
“Honestly,” groused Llaturakka. “Twenty cargo ships passed this area in the past two days. YOU had to eat the one full of jalapeno peppers!”

This is very funny! Massive sea monsters who ate cargo ships with “wrong spice.” He must have been terribly ill. Lol.

Thank you! Yeah, he was feeling that one for months. He’s much, much more picky about what he eats now. 😉

Oh my…and the gasses didn’t kill everyone for miles around? Poor Klaptukas. I have a sure fire – no pun intended – remedy for his tummy ache. Any type of tummy ache can be cured by taking a tablespoon (15-20mls) of Worcestershire sauce NOT shaken. Straight down the hatch and you’ll feel the heat spreading through your body. (LOL sorry, Granny talking here, but I’ve been using this remedy for more than 50 years 😀 )

Luckily, the island was small and uninhabited (except for a rare species of finch). Klaptukas eventually recovered, but he’s become a finicky eater. That’s a terrific remedy. I’ll have to try it sometime. For years now, I’ve used asian ginger candy or ginger tea for tummy aches. Works like a charm. Thanks so much, Lyn! 🙂
