A Christmas Tradition

Nate watched the horses at their watering trough. It was Christmas day and family time.

Beside him, his wife Marilee said, “I don’t understand why they do it.”

“It’s a Christmas tradition,” said Nate’s son, 24-year old Everett.

“It’s a mystery,” said Nate.

“They sure got the Christmas spirit,” noted Marilee.

They sat in silence for a time watching the horses cavort merrily in the snow.

“I’m going inside to warm up,” said Marilee. As she left, she muttered, “Still can’t believe horses like eggnog.”

When she was gone Nate said to Everett, “You hid all the brandy bottles, right?”

Heh. I like it. My sister gives her horses Guinness (other brands are available) on Christmas (Other religious holidays are available) day. They love (other emotions are available) it.
