Nate watched the horses at their watering trough. It was Christmas day and family time.
Beside him, his wife Marilee said, “I don’t understand why they do it.”
“It’s a Christmas tradition,” said Nate’s son, 24-year old Everett.
“It’s a mystery,” said Nate.
“They sure got the Christmas spirit,” noted Marilee.
They sat in silence for a time watching the horses cavort merrily in the snow.
“I’m going inside to warm up,” said Marilee. As she left, she muttered, “Still can’t believe horses like eggnog.”
When she was gone Nate said to Everett, “You hid all the brandy bottles, right?”

Heh. I like it. My sister gives her horses Guinness (other brands are available) on Christmas (Other religious holidays are available) day. They love (other emotions are available) it.

Haha! It’s just another way to get their oats, right? 😉 So if you ride a horse that’s been drinking, is that “drinking and driving?” 😀 Thanks Al!

Oh dear…let’s hope they don’t leave eggnog out for Santa’s reindeer 😮

Haha! You know, Santa has been late on his rounds a few times. Interestingly, right after visiting Nate’s home. Mrs. Claus was quite unhappy with her husband. 😉

Pickled horses. Sounds like a fun tradition.
Funny story, E.A.! You definitely brought it this week. 🙂

Hehe. The horses have fun, but nobody dares ride them around this time. The horses have a habit of hitting trees. 😉 Thanks so much! 🙂

As long as the horses have the day off, who can blame them for enjoying a little fun?

Right? It’s Christmas. Let them have the day off. Horses like making merry too, especially when it results in little horses. 😉
