The Svenska Tours company boasted the fastest ferry boat in Europe. They claimed to control a miracle engine technology, though they denied using nuclear power. When the pride of the ferry fleet, the Svenska Stjarna limped home with engine trouble, it was cause for concern.
Valter, captain of the Svenska Angel, boarded the stricken ferry to see if he could help.
“Sick engine,” explained Captain Olle, leading the way to the engine compartment. “Eventually, we got her going well enough to limp home.”
“You need help with her?” asked Valter.
Olle opened the door to the engine room. “No, she just needs time.”
Valter stared in shock at what he saw there. “I’ve never seen such a thing!” he exclaimed.
The mermaid was astounding beautiful, though obviously not feeling well. Her fishy tail dipped into the water where it could propel the boat. She held her stomach painfully.
“I didn’t think mermaids could get sick!” stammered Valter.
Olle growled impatiently, “It’s my new cook’s fault. Mermaids should never have wasabi with their Sashimi!”

Oh I concur! A decent mouthful of wasabi is enough to stop you dead in your tracks 😮 You tricked me with the ending though. I knew it would be something like that, but when I saw mermaid, I thought she was going to turn out to be pregnant. LOL well done you 😀

I considered pregnant, but then Captain Olle would have a lot of explaining to do. That would take 150 words of stammering, I think. 😉 Wasabi was my alternate. It can be like kryptonite for many folks. Thanks much, Joy! 🙂

Like how a human got the bottom bits of a fish pregnant. Yikes. Plus, she would probably lay eggs so the male could then fertilize them, so it’s a bit of a stretch.

True, it works that way for fish, but a mermaid is something else. Thing is, Captain Olle wasn’t supposed to be “tinkering” with his “engine.”

Oh, I wasn’t even thinking of Captain Olle as the daddy. She’s spending most of her time underwater, after all. Lots of alternate candidates… 😉

Don’t rule out pregnancy just yet. That damn wasabi can play all sort of tricks with a human (or semi-human) body.

I love wasabi with my sashimi, but then again, I’m not a mermaid.

Me too. It’s essential to the whole sashimi experience if you ask me. Unfortunately, mermaids are allergic to the stuff, even if they think it’s tasty.

Perhaps she needs to learn the breaststroke. Flapping her tail with a bad stomach can get to be a bit too much.
