Lantern Festival

Recently, we went to the Lantern Festival in Paige, TX. We’ve seen pics of such festivals in Asia many times and it’s been a dream for Shey and me to attend one. Here’s some pics from Shey’s camera.

The lanterns are made out of thin paper. Cardboard beneath it is lit and the hot air from the flame lifts the lantern up. About 4,000 people attended.

Hannah tried her first Smores. Naturally she loved them!

The hotdogs were awesome.

Hannah hung out with a Disney princess.

Beautiful pictures. Your daughter is so sweet. Looks like she had a ton of fun with Princess Elsa and the s’mores!

Your little girl is adorable and the Lantern Festival is very beautiful. We used to have a River Festival here in Boise but it got to be too expensive and the city cancelled it. I miss the sky being full of hot air balloons.

Hannah is growing so fast, Eric – and more beautiful. LOL obviously takes after her Mum 😀
The lanterns look amazing! Hotdogs and Smores…what more could you want on a picnic?

I’ve always wanted to go to one of those lantern festivals too. They seem so magical! But where do the burning lanterns land, and don’t they catch things on fire? (Speaking as someone living in the fire watch zone of California, which is most of it.)

Oh, and Hannah is adorable and so big! I am vicariously thrilled at the First S’more Experience. Mm, now I want one.

Thanks so much! She’s growing and talking more all the time. The s’mores came with our balloon kit. It was a nice touch I didn’t expect. So cool to give Hannah her first s’mores. It’s a major stepping stone in life, you know. 😉

They are magical. It’s amazing to see them going up all at once. The local fire marshal is aware of the festival so apparently they’re keeping a watch. Apparently some small fires get started, but since everyone is ready for it, it hasn’t gotten out of hand. I think you couldn’t do this in California especially SoCal. Just too dry there.

I think in California this is called The Fire Hazard festival.
