The Christmas Rescue

Frank and Jan, rescue chopper crewmen, entered the Alaskan gift shop. Both looked grim.

“What’s wrong guys?” said the shop’s proprietor, Ben.

“We couldn’t find the crash of a small passenger jet,” said Frank. “Survivors will likely freeze to death, on Christmas Eve.”

“Worst Christmas ever,” grumbled Jan.

“Huh?” said Ben. “They were found! They bought a bunch of hats.”

“Impossible!” said Frank. “We were the only available chopper.”

“They said a big red helicopter with a laughing fat pilot rescued them.”

“Ah!” Frank began smiling. “I know who it was.”

“I changed my mind,” grinned Jan. “Best Christmas ever.”

  1. This is a sweet story, Eric. I remember the Apollo astronauts mentioned the UFO on Christmas night as well.

Great story. This brought back memories. When I was a kid a local shopping center used to have helicopter rides with Santa Claus. I guess the insurance would cost too much these days.
Merry Christmas to you and yours, Eric.

Oh man, I’ve never rode in a helicopter, much less with Santa Claus! Yeah, I doubt anybody does that now. Just flying for a half hour in a chopper costs a bundle. Glad you enjoyed this story. Thanks so much, and Merry Christmas!

  8. Dear Eric,

Love it. And I love it that one of the guy’s names is Jan. That’s my husband’s name, too. 😉 Great story for the season. I can hear the helicopter pilot crying, “Merry Christmas to all and to all a good night!” Thanks for sharing the photo. She’s a cutie.

    Shalom,

Wow, you’re husband’s a rescue pilot? 😉 The pilot did wish his rescuees a Merry Christmas. How did you know? 😉 Hannah asked me to say ‘hello’ to her Auntie Rochelle. She said it in baby talk, but I knew what she meant. Happy Hannukah!
