Sociological Analysis

The International Balloon Rally at Bristol, England, reached a crescendo. The colorful hot air balloons were fully inflated and awaiting the signal to launch. Close by, alien eyes were watching.

They hovered in a bubble of energy, invisible to any humans. Professor Xort addressed the five members his Xenosociology 201 class. “It’s important to observe the details to make a correct sociological analysis. A famous incorrect analysis happened here on Earth.”

“What happened?” said Qyth.

“A sociologist declared that Humans were so dependent on technology they no longer spoke directly to each other,” opined Xort. “We now know this is false. They still use Twitter.”

The students scribbled notes furiously.

Xort pointed to the balloon rally. “Who can tell me what’s happening here?”

“A celebration?” offered Tsola.

“Incorrect!” said Xort. “Look carefully. We have much hot air and inflated bodies.”

Xort paused for effect.

“Clearly, this is a Political Rally.”

About EagleAye

I like looking at the serious subjects in the news and seeking the lighter side of the issue. I love satire and spoofs. I see the ridiculous side of things all the time, and my goal is to share that light-hearted view.

Close but no cigar. It is a political protest with the balloons symbolizing the citizens’ displeasure at their representatives regardless of which side of the aisle they happen to occupy (that last part is a true rarity). πŸ˜€

  2. I can see why the professor would say – a political rally is usually flowing in it πŸ™‚

Hah! Because Twitter is talking directly to each other, right?

Always said aliens didn’t understand the human psyche that well. It’s actually a symbol for the “little people” (forget Leprechauns here) It’s telling them they have the power to deflate inflated egos as easily as popping a hot air balloon — and with the same result — and bring those inflated political egos crashing to the ground when the little people go to the polling booth. Thank goodness for the freedom to vote! Watch and learn, aliens πŸ˜€

What a lovely idea, that aliens are more interested in our sociology than in taking over the world. It’s probably true, too. I bet there are energy bubbles all over the place bringing alien tourists to gawp at the primitive natives.
    Nice story EagleAye.

Yeah, not all the aliens are aggressive. Some just want to study us primitives. There probably are a bunch of alien bubbles floating around. I shudder to think what the aliens are saying about us as they show slideshows of their “safari” to their friends. πŸ˜‰

      Thanks much, Penny! πŸ™‚

  9. Dear Eric,

I have a friend who once made it his mission to make me spurt my drink out of my nose. It seems you are trying to carry on in his stead. I’m happy to say my keyboard is high and dry because I know better than to read your stories while eating or drinking. The last line did make me laugh out loud. πŸ˜€

    Shalom,

A much more attractive political rally than the usual. However, the hot air is a dead giveaway.

More research required, methinks! An understandable mistake, however.

  12. Loved your witty story – made me laugh. Are we humans and our politics just a lot of hot air ??

Hehe. Thank you! I love to share laughs. As of late, I’d say our politics is mostly hot air and not nearly enough thinking. Or maybe it was always like that? πŸ˜‰
