Peanut Butter and Chocolate

Howie sat on the park bench watching ferries sail away. He’d lived 228 years, and just transferred his consciousnes into his 4th 16-year old body.

A 16-year old girl sat beside him. “Are you a fresh transfer too?” she asked.

“Yep. My fourth.”

“Same here. You must’ve loved many times.”

“Nope. Only once. In my first body.”

Howie turned away. Love was a sore subject.

He and Jenny had been best friends, and it grew into love. They liked getting ice cream in their little town in Iowa. Both liked pistacio. He liked it with peanut butter on top, she with chocolate. As they ate they mixed the two together, and found they were the perfect match.

He never told anyone about this.

One day she didn’t arrive. Howie spent his lifetimes looking for her on every continent. Sitting at the bench, he admitted defeat. He would no longer search.

“Do you like ice cream?” said the girl.

“Sure.”

She stood, offering her hand. “Let’s go then! I like pistacio with chocolate on top.”

About EagleAye

I like looking at the serious subjects in the news and seeking the lighter side of the issue. I love satire and spoofs. I see the ridiculous side of things all the time, and my goal is to share that light-hearted view.

Beautiful story from beginning to end. Often when we give up searching, that is when we find what we are seeking.
