Further Research

Mischa checked her watch as she looked out the window. There was Jean-Pierre, walking up the street, right on time.

“Is that him?” said her roommate, Natalie.

“Yep. He’ll knock on my door by accident. We start talking, then go out for coffee.”

“And this has been happening for weeks?”

“Exactly. I’m living the same day over again every morning.”

“My god. That’s insane! Can’t you break the cycle?”

Mischa nodded. “I tried zillions of things and I finally figured it out. I just leave now and run for a mocha at Nellie’s. That will break the chain and I’ll be free.”

Natalie stared at her. “So go!”

Mischa thought about how the recurring day would end. They go for ice cream and visit the street artists along the boardwalk, sharing laughs. The handsome Jean-Pierre plays love songs for her under the moonlight. They return to her apartment and become tangled in sweaty sheets, exhausted and smiling.

Mischa smiled. “Maybe further research is in order.”

About EagleAye

I like looking at the serious subjects in the news and seeking the lighter side of the issue. I love satire and spoofs. I see the ridiculous side of things all the time, and my goal is to share that light-hearted view.
