The ivy, growing outside the abandoned building, turned to the trumpet vine and said, “At first I thought this was a mistake.”
“Why?” said the trumpet vine. “The intelligent plants growing inside are thriving, and will soon take over the world.”
“I mean the ‘no trespassing’ sign. To curious humans that’s like an invitation.”
“Agreed, but it works. Just enough of them venture inside, unable to resist their own curiosity.”
“And after seeing our incredible developments, they have to be killed. No witnesses allowed.” The ivy shuddered.
“But it all works out,” said the trumpet vine. “Humans are great fertilizer.”

Reminds me of the Venus Fly trap plant. Ivy has realised that poison on its own was’t working – clever stuff for fauna based society.

That should be a blow to our egos. Other meat-eating animals see us as food, some insects suck our blood as food, and now plants think of us as fertilizer, a type of food. It seems to me it’s rather unsafe to go camping. Funny story, Eric. 😀 — Suzanne

Good one, Eric. We both went with the curiosity factor on this prompt. It’s just like a “wet paint” sign, people can’t resist touching it.

So, talking plants outside, a No Trespassing sign, and a smell of other plants growing inside – I guess that would attract a lot of stoners.
But I doubt that demolition and construction crews that eventually come after the stoners to gentrify the neighborhood will make such an easy prey.
