My interview with famed monster killer, Gepard Baptiste, proved quite bizarre. Often, he paused to shoot out the cafe window, killing slobbering beasts with too many mouths, tentacles, and bat wings.
“It’s a hard life,” said Baptiste, devouring a spoonful of expensive bluefin tuna ceviche.
“But the pay is good?”
“I accept nothing, save the odd snack,” he said, wiping the finest gooseliver foie gras from his mouth. “I must go. I am needed at Cafe DuMont. A most challenging location.”
“Are there many monsters there?”
He looked like a man facing death. “The leg of lamb is often under spiced.”

Author’s Notes:
Bluefin Tuna is one of the most expensive fish you can buy. “Bluefin tuna sashimi is a particular delicacy in Japan. For example, an Atlantic bluefin caught off eastern United States sold for $247,000 at the Tsukiji fish market in Tokyo in 2008.”

Ceviche: a dish made with raw fish. I am not a fish lover, but I do like ceviche.

Foie Gras: A French delicacy. “foie gras is defined as the liver of a duck or goose fattened by gavage.”

Dear Eric,
I’m a fish lover…particularly sashimi. Ceviche is wonderful. A monster killer has to have his priorities straight, doesn’t he? He certainly has good taste. ๐

Even a Monster Killer needs to eat occasionally, right? He may claim not to be paid, but I’d say he’s paid extremely well! ๐ Thanks Rochelle!

Under spiced lamb??? Say it isn’t so!! ๐ฎ That is almost sacrilege. You at least have to have Rosemary and garlic.

Noooo – not the underspiced leg of lamb! ๐ I have to ask – do different monsters turn up depending on what Gepard is being served?

Gads! How did you know? Yes, when eating the ceviche, the tentacled Brillicons arrive. With lamb shanks, the fanged and athletic Dithoritics bound in. With roast squab, it’s the bat-winged Theagures. This is all detailed in the infamous book, the Monstromicon. ๐

Raw fish. Only if I were starving, isolated on a raft with nothing to eat and no rescue in sight. THEN maybe I could get it down. Maybe.

Haha! That’s funny. I find that I am more willing to eat raw fish than the cooked kind. How’s that for bizarre?

To each his own. My sushi-loving sons tell me that several types of sushi have cooked fish. I suppose I should try it sometime.

A man who is comfortable in his skin and one who has discerning taste. Oh and is an accurate shot! A nice combination of attributes.
