Max and Archie ran into the house to avoid the hail of meteorites bombarding Earth.
“We should never have time-traveled here,” wailed Archie. “2020 is the worst year ever.”
“Not to worry,” said Max. “I’ll get us out. We’ll find our time-machine soon.”
“How?”
“Look, a string!” said Max. “We’re saved!”
“What good does that do us?”
“This is the string I tied on my finger to help me remember where I put the time-machine.” Quickly, he tied it back on.
“So where is it?”
“There!” pointed Max, triumphantly.
“You put it… there?” stammered Archie.
“Exactly! Right where that meteor crater is.”

Author’s Notes:
If Max seems a bit too effervescent, I’ll confess I’ve been inspired by watching Dirk Gently’s Holistic Detective Agency.
Hah! Well, I guess to be trapped in 2020 isn’t too bad a fate for Max and Archie. After all, 2021 is going to be better (you know, the way soldiers on the western front in late 1914 figured peace was on the horizon and the world was only going to improve from there for 1915… Gaaah…)

Haha! Oh right. Luckily, the war to end all wars ended in 1918 and we had the Armistice of 1919 to set things right and put us on the path to peace…*ahem*

Some people just can’t be trusted with the responsibility of maintaining their ‘Time Machine’. Looks like they will have to hunker down until the showers are over. Lucky for Mankind that these time travellers are a bit scattered brained.

Yup. Let’s just hope they don’t step in a butterfly or something. 😉

I like it! Fortunate he found his “trigger” for remembering. Well, he didn’t have to spend the day looking. 😀

True, they didn’t have to wait long to learn their fate. Thanks for stopping in!

Oh man, I love the show and the books. I can see that Max does embody that frenetic Dirk energy though, but I knew it was a fun story before I saw the allusion. Well done!

Dear Eric,
Hope they can get the time machine back out. The show looks great. Alas I don’t have Hulu or Showtime. If only it were on Netflix. As always your story is off the wall and I love it

Not the best year for sure. Max picked a dreadful place to park, but at least he remembered where the machine was in the end. I watched the first season of the show and enjoyed it. Love the quirky characters.

That made me laugh. It does sound like Dirk Gentley’s sort of humor too. I’ve read the books, so now I guess I’ll have to check out the show too. 🙂
