Dalton Blakesley looked out over the English Coast. He turned to a tall fellow he knew as Jordan.
“You can really fix this time loop I’m stuck in?”
“We can,” said Jordan. “Our technology is that advanced.”
Dalton had relived the same three days for a month already, and now the repeats could end. But that meant no more flying a Spitfire in a peacetime world, flying for the sheer joy of it. No longer would he meet Sharon, the sparks of love, flashing between them. No more waking up in bliss beside her.
“Can you come back in another month?”

I don’t know if anyone out there is unfamiliar with the Supermarine Spitfire. Here’s one just in case. This is a Mark XVI, a late model Spitfire still with a Merlin engine and its distinctive sound.

I know exactly what Dalton was getting at! There’s nothing like the sound of a Merlin. As for the Spitfire… the classic of the classics. There are some flying examples in NZ. I actually knew someone who owned a Merlin in my home-town district – brand new and untouched since it was assembled in the late 1940s – which they sold to a US collector. Sigh… Er – I have to ask. Did Dalton ask for another month after that…?

Yup. I love the sound of the Merlin. So awesome. And sorry if I didn’t make it clear, but Dalton was asking for another month. Why give up a good thing? 😉

Sounds as if the time loop is to his advantage. If only we could all maintain that moment and period in time when we were the most satisfied and happy.

You know that is something we don’t always consider when we wish we could have another day like one that seemed perfect. You can’t move forward if you keep getting that one time but it is so tempting because good days are so nice.
