The Exchange

Darius Green sighed as walked through the Science Museum. Another dinosaur hunting season passed without a significant fossil find. All he discovered was an unusually polished blue rock. Idly, he imagined it was magical, but that was silly.

Walking beside the huge Allosaurus skeleton and absently rubbing the rock, he looked up. “I wonder what life was like in your world.” He sighed. “I wish I could change places with you.”

An hour later, Director Pullman peaked out from the janitor closet. The living Allosaurus had smashed much of the museum before crashing through the tall cargo bay doors. Beside him, his assistant Marjorie still shivered.

“Do you think everyone’s alright?” he said.

“I think so. I managed to reach everyone but Darius,” said Marjorie.

Pullman strolled through the shattered exhibits. At a platform he said, “That’s weird.”

“What?”

“Do you remember having a Human skeleton in the dinosaur exhibit?”

About EagleAye

I like looking at the serious subjects in the news and seeking the lighter side of the issue. I love satire and spoofs. I see the ridiculous side of things all the time, and my goal is to share that light-hearted view.

Oh nice ending, Eric. Didn’t see that coming. I was expecting to see Darius hiding behind a tree while hundreds of dinosaurs wandered around him. That truly was an exchange šŸ˜€

Excellent story. Not sure what the future holds for him, hopefully not extinction!

Very neat idea to write a story on, switching places with a long dead dinosaur. While you assume the guy pretty much brought about his own death and his hopefully better off, Iā€™m sure the dinosaur is quite confused.
    Interesting take for sure šŸ™‚

He did, but who knows what he saw while still alive in the Jurassic period. Maybe he died happy at last? And yeah, the dinosaur is terribly confused. When it finally discovers Starbucks and tastes its first peppermint mocha, things will all become clear. šŸ˜‰ Thanks Mandibelle! šŸ™‚

Lol. Perhaps he died happy but still a bit disturbed by the fact that Starbucks didnā€™t yet exist in the Jurassic period, nor his favourite peppermint mochas which he would never taste again. Not knowing a dinosaur was currently enjoying his favourite holiday drink in a dinosaur size container, was a good thing. šŸ™‚

Haha! When Starbucks served the Allosaurus it was the first time a mocha was served in an oil barrel. šŸ˜‰ If the large cups are called “vente” I wonder what a dinosaur-sized one is called.

  6. In India, we have a saying, which, loosely translated means – Once a day, the goddess sits on your tongue, and at that time, whatever you say comes true. This must have been that moment for poor Darius šŸ™‚
