SpinAway No.2

Vertanymaya watched the disc-shaped carnival ride spin. SpinAway No.2, was where he’d hidden his disc-shaped flying saucer. He knew the carnival’s slipshod maintenance crew would never look closely enough to realize a spaceship rested inside one.

It took Vertanymaya a while to find the pierzietzyn crystals in the mountains of Chile. The crystals alone could restore power to his interstellar starship. It would be a relief to the alien to get away from this backward planet.

He stopped beside the ride operator. “Good to see old SpinAway No.2.”

“No.2?” said the operator. “No, this is No.3. We sold No.2 for scrap!”

About EagleAye

I like looking at the serious subjects in the news and seeking the lighter side of the issue. I love satire and spoofs. I see the ridiculous side of things all the time, and my goal is to share that light-hearted view.

I think I will go for a mix of snort and chuckle this week.
    So that is a snorkel.
Very amusing, if you like sad aliens.

  2. Hahaha! He is in pretty big trouble now unless he can find the scrap pile! Hilarious ending! Hopefully he won’t be stuck on this backward planet but there doesn’t seem to be much hope. LOL!!

He does have the knowledge to rebuild his ship if he must, but it will take time. Perhaps a little time on this backwater will change his opinion of it. Who knows? Glad you laughed. Thanks so much! 🙂

Oops! Let’s hope V finds the scrapyard before the scrap dealers find his ship in their junk pile. 😉

Yeah. Let’s hope they haven’t turned his ship into rebar for making buildings! He’s be really stuck until he could build a new ship. 😦

I don’t know about that — I figure scrap dealers know a lot about metal, so they’d see right away that this was made out of, what, tritanium alloy? Plus all of those instrument panels and devices and alien technology. So either the place would be swarming with government investigators, or the scrapyard would suddenly be seriously involved in the black market… Either way, the alien isn’t seeing his stuff any time soon!

I really do enjoy readers that take the bother to think. I guess that’s what happens when the reader is also an author. You challenge me, and I like that. A lot depends on the scrapper. Will they just plant it in a scrapper (they’d assume it was nothing more than a carnival ride) and crush it like what happens with so many cars? Or would they dismantle it and find the gem inside? The latter is better for V. If they try to study it, that will give him time to steal it away. It won’t operate at all without him, so he still has a chance.

Thanks for humoring me. 😉 And hm, you make a good point, that if the spaceship was discovered it would be more likely to be left intact (either for study or because it would be more valuable that way), thus giving V at least some chance of stealing it back. That’s my new plan/hope for what happens next!

LOL Snort, chuckle, guffaw, and another snort. Wasn’t expecting that. Poor Verty, he’s not going to be very popular back home when they get word in a few light years is he :p

Hehe. All lovely reactions. I like them all! Verty may be in trouble, but that’s only if his colleagues find him. He may desperately want any advanced civilization to find him at this point. With any luck he’ll get his ship back, and no one will be wiser. Then again, it’s a good authorial technique, to abuse characters…muhuhhahaha!

Let’s hope that this ship wasn’t powered by a few pounds of anti-matter or something like that…

  8. Dear Eric,

Does this mean it’s too late for E.T. to phone home? Cute story. I’m with CE…a snorkeler indeed.

Hehe. Yeah, he’s got no phone. It’s on his ship, wherever that is. Hopefully he finds it. Otherwise, he’ll be getting to know us humans very very well. 😉 Glad you had a “snorkle.” Thanks much, Rochelle! 🙂

Ha,ha,ha,ha… (I read that LOL and ROFL isn’t en vogue any more). Still cackling… Never, ever, leave your space craft unattended. I can see spinaway #2’s spinning part refitted. That’ll be a sight worth seeing. Snort!
