Future University

Phil and John stood in a long line of candidates waiting to rise up on the escalator to a new life.

Phil said, “This looks like a scene from Logan’s Run.”

John scoffed, “Don’t be childish.”

“Yeah okay, sorry,” said Phil. “The pomp and circumstance just seems a bit much.”

“What do you mean?” John said.

“You know. All the fancy robes and stuff.”

“It’s a big moment,” explained John. “Entering the prestigious Future University to build humanity’s starships is a big deal.”

“Yeah, I get that, but why the escalator?”

John shrugged, “You wanted a higher education, right?”

About EagleAye

I like looking at the serious subjects in the news and seeking the lighter side of the issue. I love satire and spoofs. I see the ridiculous side of things all the time, and my goal is to share that light-hearted view.

Groan! What a pun! And you set it up so well, too. I wouldn’t mind working on the starships, though. Any chance of a job?

  5. Dear Eric,

I still win. I put my coffee aside before reading yours. This would’ve made me snort for sure. 😀

  6. ‘Higher education’. Escalator. Bwahahahahahaha! 🙂 Luckily I wasn’t drinking coffee! On matters ‘Logan’s Run’, I never saw the original movie – wasn’t old enough on first release – but have a distinct recollection of seeing a TV series based on it a few years later.

The picture was the perfect setup. I think it took me all of 327 milliseconds to think up that last line. 😉 Oh you missed out on Logan’s Run. As a young adolescent, seeing Jenny Agutter running around in what amounted to a negligee, was “stimulating” to say the least. 😉
