Omni Plow

“Gracious, Lord Hinton! What IS it?”

“The pinnacle of agricultural technology, Mr. Pitcairn. It’s the Omni Plow.”

“Good lord. What does it do?”

“Why it does everything. It’s a plow, a tractor, a tool kit, a survival kit. It contains the tools to repair itself and other implements. With this, today’s farmers could spend days at time out in the field without the time-wasting necessity to return home.”

“Your saying farmers wouldn’t need to go home to the loving arms of their wives, the smiles of their children, the bliss of a home cooked meal, nor warmth of their bed?”

“Sold any?”

“Not one bloody unit!”

About EagleAye

I like looking at the serious subjects in the news and seeking the lighter side of the issue. I love satire and spoofs. I see the ridiculous side of things all the time, and my goal is to share that light-hearted view.

  1. Dear E. A.
First and foremost, welcome to Friday Fictioneers. You’ll find that we’re a friendly, if not quirky group. I think you’ll fit in quite well.
    I enjoyed your story. I can’t imagine why Lord Hinton’s invention isn’t selling. 😉

  2. Hmm, sometimes function isn’t as great as form, as in the form of a good woman. Stay in the field? I think not! Nicely done.

  3. Welcome, E. A. I enjoyed your story. I see that this invention was the Swiss army knife of its time! It could do everything. Good job!

  4. Shey says:

    A good read!

  5. Realism grips hard…I like this very much for the sales talk, and the bitter truth..

  6. billgncs says:

Hello and welcome — That was a nice twist.

  7. claireful says:

I can just hear their voices. Great read.

  8. Sandra says:

Nice debut! And I can’t imagine why it wouldn’t sell. 🙂 Welcome.

  9. Shreyank says:

Cheeky story 🙂 nice one 🙂

  10. jwdwrites says:

This was brilliant, I laughed aloud to this one getting funny looks from my daughter. For some reason this put me in mind of the good old Sinclair C5!

  11. jwdwrites says:

Didn’t realise this was your first time! Welcome aboard, I’m a veteran of six campaigns now and I am glad not to be ‘the new kid’ any more!

  12. On man that was priceless – good start I’m just new here too, my second run at it 🙂 Funny the folks here at FF seem to get ruffled at any story that doesn’t ooze praise for the trike. I don’t think they’d sell many up my way either but there ya go. It’s certainly a conversation piece.

  13. Eagle firstly welcome to the FF, you have commenced brilliantly. I was a Sales Rep in years past…and this made me laugh… prompt…push…even though you know it’s crap. 😉

  14. Great imagination in this one. Love it.

  15. jenniesisler says:

  16. Ha ha… very entertaining…!
Crisp, clean and funny… Just what I like..! 🙂

  17. Ryan H says:

Haha! Awesome job on this, efficient and funny! I might have to try this sometime, looks fun!

  18. Does it also cook food and provide female companionship? Sold! Now it only I did any plowing ….

  19. Alastair says:

Haha. Great story. Love the last line 😀

  20. elappleby says:

Welcome to FF, Eagle Aye. I loved this story – very funny and expertly written. See you next week 🙂

  21. Trudy says:

Very funny 🙂 I imagine Lord Hinton comes from the kind of boarding school background where the merits of hearth and home are a little lacking!

  22. camgal says:

Lovely plot twist you got there 🙂

  23. Joe Owens says:

Welcome to the group. I like this and it sounds like the all-in-one promise sounds either too good to be true or too complex for the farmers to take a chance.

  24. I feel like all the characters on “The Walking Dead” would love one of those. Sorry…I really like zombies.

  25. camgal says:

    Loved the story 🙂
